Ontario Tuition Grant Deadline Approaching

For students registered in the Full Summer Session, the deadline to apply for the (30% Off) Ontario Tuition Grant is this Wednesday, June 5! This is also the deadline to submit all supporting documentation to the Awards Office.

If you have applied online but have not yet submitted your parent(s) signature sheets and any required supporting documentation to the Awards Office, make sure you do so before the deadline.

Reminder: Keep Your Previous OSAP Loans Interest-Free

Wrapping up your studies this summer? No longer receiving OSAP funding? Going on a co-op work term?

If so, it’s important to remember that as a full-time student, it’s your responsibility to keep any previous OSAP loans interest-free and out of repayment by completing a Continuation of Interest Free Status form.

OSAP and Course Load Changes

Did you add or drop courses this term? It is your responsibility to promptly notify the Awards Office of any changes you make to your course load while you are receiving funding through Ontario’s Student Assistance Program (OSAP).

Winter Term Registration Required for Second OSAP Instalment

January is right around the corner! In order to avoid any unnecessary delays in receiving the second instalment of your OSAP funding, make sure you register for your winter term classes by Friday, December 14.

OSAP Deadline for Students Registered for Fall Term ONLY

If you are a full-time student who is applying for OSAP funding for the fall term ONLY, the deadline to submit your OSAP application is October 4th 2012. Your OSAP application must be submitted online, and your Signature pages and all other requested documentation should be submitted to the Awards Office, by this date.

If you are currently only registered for the fall, but will be registered full time for the winter term as well, you may submit and OSAP application for BOTH terms anytime before January 27th, 2013.

We encourage you to submit your MSFAA as soon as possible - Your funding cannot be released until your MSFAA has been taken to a designated Canada Post outlet with proof of your SIN and Canadian government issued photo I.D.

Important Note! If you are only registered for the fall term, and have yet to submit an OSAP application, please be sure to complete a Continuation of Interest Free Status form as soon as possible, to ensure that your previous loans do not enter repayment.

Reps from the National Student Loan Service Centre (NSLSC) are in the lobby of Robertson Hall this week, so get it done right away because your OSAP funding can’t be released without it!

Reminder: How to Get Your OSAP Funding

OSAP HAS CHANGED! – Please read carefully for information about how your OSAP funding will be released.

If you have received OSAP in previous years, you will notice that the way you get your OSAP funding for the Fall/Winter has changed. If you have not previously received OSAP, it is still important to take note of how your funding will be released!

Beginning 2012-2013, OSAP funding will be deposited directly into your bank account once the Awards Office electronically confirms your enrolment (Please Note: The Awards Office cannot confirm your enrolment until September 4th – the first day of class). This means no more waiting in line to pick up a paper loan/grant certificate!

For your second term funding, the Ministry asks that you update your estimated income on your online OSAP account if it has changed. You will receive instructions on how to do this about a month before the second installment of your OSAP is released (i.e. End of November or beginning of December).

At this time, all you need to do to ensure your funding can be released is;

1. Make sure you have taken your MSFAA to a designated Canada Post

2. Make sure you have submitted your Signature Pages and all supporting documentation to the Awards Office

3. Make sure you have registered in the correct course load for Fall/Winter

As long as you have completed these 3 items, the Awards Office can electronically confirm your enrolment at the beginning of September. Once your enrolment is confirmed, the first installment of your OSAP funding (approximately 60% of the total) will be released.
