Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP)

Purpose

OSAP is intended to supplement, where necessary, the financial resources that eligible students (and their family) have available to meet the costs of  postsecondary education.

Assistance is based on demonstrated financial need as established by the federal and/or provincial governments and as determined through an assessment of two main factors on your OSAP application.

  1. Educational costs (such as tuition fees, books and supplies, and basic living expenses), and
  2. Resources that you (and your family, if applicable) are expected to contribute towards these costs.

Note: OSAP is not intended to meet all your educational and living costs. You are expected to help pay for your studies. What OSAP aims to provide is equality of opportunity for all Ontario students who wish to pursue postsecondary studies.

Recommended OSAP Timeline
