What is eLaundry?

eLaundry is an online system offered by the Campus Card Office that allows you to keep track of the laundry system at Carleton. Through eLaundry, you can do the following functions:

  • Find available laundry machines in your residence building (or any building)
  • Put a 10 minute hold on up to 3 specific washers and/or dryers. Only your Campus Card will allow the machines to be activated.
  • Be notified by email or text message when your laundry cycle is completed.
  • Anonymously notify others when their laundry cycle is complete and waiting to be removed from a machine.

How do I access the eLaundry System?

To use the eLaundry System, log in to Carleton Central and click on the link titled ‘E-Laundry System’, which can be found under ‘Personal Information’. Note that you’ll only be able to access the eLaundry System if you’re currently living in residence.

How do I set up eLaundry?

The first step is to set up your notification methods by clicking on ‘Preferences’ on the left hand menu. Next, click ‘Add’ and fill out all the fields. Be sure to hit ‘Save’ when done. Note that you can input more than one notification method (i.e. you can input your cell phone number and your email address, or even multiple email addresses), and then change which contact method is your preferred method at any time.

Cell Phones

Enter your 10 digit phone number (e.g. 613123456 – no spaces or dashes between numbers), and specify which cellular carrier you’re with (if your carrier isn’t listed, please let us know here), and optionally a short description message. Be sure to check the terms and conditions checkbox and also the preferred notification checkbox, then press the ‘send confirmation code’ button.

You should receive a text message on your phone within 10 minutes with a confirmation code, enter it in the ‘enter confirmation code’ box and press the ‘confirm’ button. You should then receive a text confirming that you’re set up. Press the ‘save’ button and you’re all set!

If setting up a cell phone for text notification, please be aware that there may be a charge by your carrier for receiving the message, depending on your cell phone plan.

Email

Enter your email address and a short description. You can check the ‘preferred notification’ checkbox if needed. Press save and you’re all set!

Once your notification method is set up, you’re good to go! Note that you can have more than one notification method set up at a time, and you can switch your current preferred method of contact as often as you like – only your preferred contact method that will get the notification when your laundry is done.

How do I reserve a machine?

Click on ‘Room Status’ on the left hand menu. You should now see a list of rooms. You can click on ‘All Rooms’ to find a specific location if needed. If you know which room you want to use, click on it’s name, a list of the machines in that room should appear at the bottom of the page. Click on the ‘Hold’ button for the machine you want, and choose your notification method. Click the ‘Hold ‘ button at the bottom again, and you’re finished!

How do I notify the last user of a machine that their laundry is ready to be picked up?

Just go to the ‘Room Status’ screen and choose the room in question. Beside each machine number is a button titled ‘Notify Last User’ – click that to let them know their stuff is ready! NOTE: This feature only works if the previous user of the laundry machine is also set up to use eLaundry.

Comments or Questions? Let us know what you think of the eLaundry system! Email your feedback to campuscard@carleton.ca.
