What is the Campus Card?

Originally a simple ID, the Campus Card has evolved over the years and now integrates a number of services on campus to make life simple for staff and faculty alike. At present, the Campus Card serves as your library card, gym pass, CUOL tape rental card, exam entrance card and debit card, all in one. This last feature is especially handy, as it allows staff to carry money around on campus in a safe, convenient form.

The Faculty/Staff Convenience Plan is valid everywhere your Campus Card is accepted, all funds carry over from year to year and it’s minimum deposit is only $5.

Who is (and isn’t) eligible for a Staff/Faculty Campus Card?

Categories have been established for the issue of cards to staff and they are as follows:

Category of Staff Expiry Date Comments
Continuing Faculty No
Term Faculty Yes Based on date on memorandum form
Sessional Lecturer Yes August 31 st of current or following year
Continuing Employee No
Term Employee Yes Based on term of employment
Temporary Employee Yes Must be member of union or employee group
Replacement Employee Yes Must be member of union or employee group
Retired Employee No

Staff cards are not issued to Grant appointees, Adjunct Professors, or Research Associates. These employees can arrange for library access directly with the library by presenting a letter of introduction from their sponsor or department. There is no access to the Athletics facility available for these appointees unless the sponsor or department pays the fee structure as directed by Athletics. If payment is made, then an Athletics access card is prepared by Athletics.

For employees who are not offered employee cards that require access to labs and buildings after core business hours, they can be issued an access card through University Safety that acknowledges they have permission to be in the lab or the building.

Continuing Employee category includes those employees who may work less than 35 hours a week as well as those employees who are employed less than 12 months of the year. Access is not denied for any of the time that they are not at work.

Why should I add money to my card?

The Campus Card is accepted at over 450 locations all over campus, including the cafeterias, vending machines, Unicentre store, Residence store, photocopiers and laser printers, to name a few. It’s also extremely easy to use – simply swipe the card and go, with no change carry and no receipts to sign – and it’s also secure, as it has your color picture on the front and signature on the back.

With no monthly fees, no interest charges and no per transaction charges, the Campus Card can even save you money! Compare that to your credit card and debit card. The Campus Card can also help you budget your spending.

How do I get my card?

To get your Staff/Faculty Campus Card, please first stop by Human Resources (located at 507 Robertson Hall) to get a memorandum form requesting a card, then bring the form to the Campus Card Office at 407 University Centre. A card typically takes 5 to 10 minutes to make, and then you’re on your way!
