Home / Meal Plans

Not sure what residence meal plan or off campus meal plan to get? Use the Carleton University meal plan wizard to help you choose! It’s designed to assess your eating habits and recommend the meal plan that’s right for you.

Residence Meal Plans

Residence meal plans are available to all students living in residence at Carleton. All meals are eaten at the Fresh Food Company, the all-you-care-to-eat residence dining facility located on the 3rd floor of the Residence Commons building.

Meal Plan Number of Meals Dining Dollars
Plan A 14 meals per week $100
Plan B 12 meals per week $150
Plan C 9 meals per week $450
Plan D (Suite residences only) 5 meals per week $450
Plan E 19 meals per week $0
Plan F Unlimited meals per week $0

Each time a student eats a meal, their meal count is reduced by 1 until they reach zero. On Sunday at midnight, the plans are all reset back to their full count -  any unused meals from the previous week don’t carry over. Students can keep track of how many meals they have left each week through our Meal Plan Review system.

Many residence meal plans include a Dining Dollars portion that can be used outside the Fresh Food Company at any of the Dining Services locations on campus. Dining Dollars are great because they are tax exempt and also receive a 2% discount on all purchases, but can only be used to purchase food. For more information on Dining Dollars, visit our Student Plans page. Please note that the funds are split by term and pro rated based on the number of days in each term – i.e. if you have plan A you’ll get approximately $50 in September and then the remaining balance in January. Please note that any remaining meals and Dining Dollars expire as of April 30th.

Meal Plan Changes

Residence students are allowed to change their meal plan once for free, any subsequent changes cost $25. Additionally, students may not change their plan to one with a lower meal count (e.g. going from Plan A [14 meals to Plan B [12 meals) after October 14th. All residence meal plan changes are done through the Housing Office.

Off Campus (Non-Residence) Meal Plans

Off Campus Meal Plans are available to students living off campus, Carleton staff/faculty, and students in residence who didn’t get a residence meal plan.

Designed to be an easy way for commuting students to eat healthily and quickly on campus, all off-campus meal plan meals are served at the all-you-care-to-eat residence dining facilities, the Fresh Food Company (3rd floor Residence Commons building). The menu varies each week so there’s always something new to eat! Students can keep track of how many meals they have left through the Campus Card Meal Plan Review System, accessible through Carleton Central.

Students can get have more than one Off Campus Meal Plan at a time, allowing them to choose multiple meal periods in which to eat and get discounts. Please note that any remaining meals expire at lunch on April 23rd, 2012. These plans can be purchased at the Campus Card office in person or by fax, but are not currently available for purchase online through our online deposit system.
