Wireless Access
To get started with CU-Wireless you need a MyCarleton account (for students) or a CUNET account (for staff and faculty) as well as a wireless laptop or workstation with a Wi-Fi certified wireless card that supports the Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) standard.

Remote Access (Virtual Private Network – VPN)
The Virtual Private Network (VPN) client software is required in order to access Carleton University resources that are restricted to on-campus use. You must first download the VPN client software.
Email Services
Carleton students, faculty, staff and alumni are given access to an email account on at least one the university’s two enterprise e-mail systems: Connectmail and Outlook/Exchange.

Passwords
There are several computing accounts at Carleton. It is recommended (and in some departments mandatory) that for security passwords be changed once a term.
- Changing your computing password (MyCarletonOne Account, Faculty Computing Account or Administrative Computing Account)

Printing
CUNET Printing refers to printers connected over the network that users gain access to via CUNET accounts (office printers). Printing services for students includes printers found in public labs.

Transferring Files
You only need to install SSH Secure Shell Client if you currently use Telnet and FTP to access the CCS managed UNIX servers. Clients who build and edit web sites could use of these features to upload files. If you are not sure of your needs and require further information, please call the CCS Service Desk at ext. 3700.
