The Resource Centreprovides a supplementary resource to the Library, concentrating on items and material that do not fall within the Library’s mandate. Being careful to avoid duplication, our goal is to provide faculty and students with material that complements the Library resources.

All the items in the Resource Centre are searchable by author, title, keyword, date of publication through the Resource Centre database of holdings. Users are able to print out their search results. All items in the collection are available for EURUS students.

There are about 125 periodicals in the EURUS collection in the Centre, with many titles in Russian, and including a number of newspapers. A sample of the titles: Business Central Europe, Canada-Ukraine Monitor, Canadian Slavonic papers, CIS Environmental Watch, Croatian International Relations Review, Economics of Transition, Environmental Policy Review, Interflo, Kommersant, New Hungarian Quarterly, RFE (several series), Ukrainian Quarterly, NATO Weekly Press Review. The complete collection of periodicals in the Resource Centre numbers about 325 and includes such.general interest titles as The Economist, Foreign Policy, Foreign Affairs, Human Rights Quarterly and International Affairs. All of these resources are of course available for use by EURUS students and faculty.

The Resource Centre has several hundred items that we call ‘pamphlets’; these are typically working papers, occasional papers, government documents, NGO publications, etc. Some of the publishing bodies that are well represented are: Canadian Immigration and Refugee Board Documentation Centre, CSIS, CSCE, Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly, EBRD, Hungarian Academy of Science, Institute of Finance Warsaw, IMF, Catholic University of Leuven, International Institute of Applied Systems Analysis, OECD, Osteuropa-Institutet, Hoover Institute Stanford University, UNCTAD, UN Institute for Disarmament Research, US National Defence College, Vienna Institute for Comparative Economic Studies, and WIDER.

Another large resource is the collection of theses and research essays produced by students who have graduated from the Institute. These are useful for students researching similar topics. In addition we have a collection of vertical files primarily related to Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union; some conference papers, and a small book collection.
