Probationary Reviews

All new term & continuing employees must undergo an probationary review. The purpose of this review is to:

  • Assess suitability
  • Facilitate employee development

Two forms need to be completed and returned to your designated HR Advisor during the probationary period:

  • Interim Probationary Review – Complete halfway through the probationary period (PDF | Word)
  • Final Probationary Review – Complete at the end of the probationary period (PDF | Word)

The probationary review period is 6 months for all union groups, except Administrative Management, which is 12 months.

Professional Development Process

The Professional Development Process (PDP) is designed for employees and managers to work together to help employees reach their full potential in their jobs. It is mandatory for Administrative Technical Exempt and Administrative Management employees.

The Professional Development Process Form [PDF/ Doc has been created to facilitate this process. This must be completed annually and returned to Human Resources.

A Guidebook is also available to help you and your employees understand and use the PDP.

Performance Management - Developmental Support

  • Learning & Development Services are able to assist managers in supporting the ongoing development of their team members
  • Advice is available forĀ  managers on how to provide developmental feedback and learning experiences for their team members

Performance Management - Corrective Measures

  • Staff Relations is available to assist managers in identifying and applying corrective measures to address individual performance challenges
