Library Renovation: Important Dates
Dear Members of the Carleton Community,
As you are aware, MacOdrum Library is undergoing a year-long renovation. Construction is now underway and it will continue into 2013.
Library staff will do everything possible to minimize any disruption to students, faculty and staff during the construction. Please note that there will be some additional noise in the Library, which is unavoidable. Construction noise should stop after 3 p.m., Monday to Friday and there should not be any construction on weekends.
Throughout the renovation, we will post all updates as they become available on the Library’s website at: http://www.library.carleton.ca/ and in Today@Carleton.
Some key dates:
1) March 19: Starting Monday, March 19, there will be no tunnel access into the Library except for faculty, staff and students with disabilities. The access for people with disabilities will be from the Dunton corridor only. This access will only be available until April 25. After that date, there will be no tunnel access to the Library until further notice. The Loeb/Paterson Building tunnel to the Library will be closed to everyone starting March 19.
2) April 10: The front door of the library will be closed as of April 10 and for the duration of the construction. During this time, access to the library will be through the south side (Southam Hall side) door only. A ramp is being built for additional accessibility.
3) March 26: Library Road will be closed from the entrance to Parking Lot 1 to the traffic circle near the Azrieli Pavillion. This closure will be in effect until the end of construction. All companies affected for delivery purposes will be notified. The roadway will only be open to emergency vehicles. As ParaTranspo will not be able to drop off persons with disabilities at the Library Loading Zone due to the closing of this end of Library Road, ParaTranspo will be able to enter Library Road from the other end and drop persons with disabilities off at the turn around circle. The sidewalk will be available for use to the accessible entrance of Azrieli Theatre.
4) April 5 to 24: There will be 100 study spaces made available in Porter Hall. This will be quiet study space and will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday. Power access and Internet access will be limited.
We appreciate your patience during the construction period. Should you have questions or concerns, please contact Val Critchley at Valerie_critchley@carleton.ca.
Sincerely,
Margaret Haines
