Third-year commerce student Sarah Nichols has been honoured with a 3M National Student Fellowship. The fellowship was awarded to 10 full-time college and undergraduate university students who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and taken their academic experience beyond the classroom.

As part of the fellowship, Nichols has been invited to join other award winners at the annual Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (STLHE) conference in Montreal this summer. She will also have the opportunity to develop a collaborative project that can enhance teaching and learning at the post-secondary level.

“Winning this award is really exciting,” said Nichols. “I believe that if you work hard and be kind to people, good things will happen. I really couldn’t have asked for anything better.”

Nichols, who is considering a master’s degree in student affairs, has been involved in numerous volunteer activities. She has taken part in community service while on Alternative Spring Break in Guatemala, held a leadership role with students as a teaching assistant and competed in business competitions, to name just a few of her extracurricular credits.
