Home / Community Service-Learning / Ongoing Placements

Placements offer students the ability to get involved with an organization for a term or academic year. This is the ideal opportunity to “learn by doing” and become familiar with an organization you support.

You’ll work with a local community partner on a weekly or biweekly basis for 2-10 hours per week (depending on the organization and your agreement). The SEO has put together a guide to help you get the most out of placement, including goal setting and reflection guides (available here as a word document)

Volunteer Police Record Checks

A valid police record check is required for some placements. It is recommended you apply as soon as possible as this process can take up to 6-8 weeks. If you do not have an up to date police record check we recommend you fill out this form and email csl@carleton.ca (with your first and last name and the name of the organization you want to get involved with). The Student Experience Office will provide you with a letter to ensure you are not charged for the service when you drop off the form with 2 pieces of government issued ID at your local police station.
