Home / Orientation / Private: Fall / Academic Orientation

Wednesday September 7, 2011
Starting Location: Norm Fenn Gym
Starting Time: 9:00 am

This Program is Free and Mandatory for all new undergraduate students! Activities Planned during Academic Orientation Day:

T-shirt Distribution
Start the day off by picking up your faculty-specific t-shirt. Now it’s easy to spot the students who belong to the same faculty as you. Get to know them – they will be an important part of your academic career!

New Student Convocation
Now the entire first year class will head over to the third-annual New Student Convocation ceremony! This exciting event gives you a sneak-peek to graduation since it includes similar elements…a regalia-filled procession (led by pipers!) as well as speeches from our esteemed president, and an inspirational guest speaker.

Student Services BBQ
After a busy morning, you will be hosted by your faculty for a free BBQ lunch (includes hamburgers, hot dogs, and vegetarian options). Over lunch you will be able to eat with some of your new friends and get to know your professors in a casual setting.

Faculty & Degree Program Orientation and Departmental Open Houses
Once you finish lunch you will get the chance to learn the ins-and-outs and who’s-who of your faculty from instructors and senior students during faculty orientation. Next, you will move on to departmental open houses to find out more about your courses and classrooms. You can also meet your departmental administrators and instructors!

* Participation in Academic Orientation Day is mandatory for all new students.
